Did you know that of all the different types of physical activities, dancing is the only one that has beneficial effects on the mind?
What makes dancing different? According to recent research the unique demand for mental effort in conjunction with physical exertion the graceful dancer listens to the music and coordinates her movement (lets admit it is more likely to be a "she" ) with those of her partner at the same time that she is trying to remember the complicated steps. She must also maintain a certain degree of mental flexibility, ready to modify the routine in the event of an unexpected misstep. So it appears that activities that are both mentally and physically demanding protect the brain against Alzheimers disease when purely physical form of leisure activities may not.
Go and find those dancing shoes!!
