Brain cells, like all our other cells require oxygen and nutrients to properly function. Studies have shown high concumption of vegetables was associated with less age-related decline in memory. Leafy green vegetables were found to have the greatest positive effect on memory retention. It was also shown that foods high in folate such as whole-grain cereals, black-eyed peas, soybeans, spinach, green peas, artichokes, broccoli and oranges positively aided memory. Studies also showed that those who ate fish atleast once a week had a 10% slower decline compared with those who did not eat fish. This difference gave them the memory and thinking capacity of a person three years younger!
